AT A GLANCE: Date: June 3, 2010  |  Member Count: 386  |  Donations To Date: 235 Euros

Dear NZP Member,

As we have stated on our website, the strategy behind our initiative is to provide semi-completed plans of a plug-n-play city to the New Zealand government. The city will boast some of the newest, most remarkable technologies in the areas of energy, transportation, sustainability, agriculture and architecture. Not only will this portray New Zealand as a progressive, future-oriented nation, but it will also create a tourist destination akin to the Future World displays of the Epcot Center. If accepted, the New Zealand government could provide:
  • The land
  • Human resources (architects, engineers, etc.)
  • Building materials
Unfortunately, we have not received the designs for which we were hoping. This means we will have to use what we have. So that we do not to lose momentum, we will be sending out invitational emails to selected NZP members to lead specific teams. The leaders of these groups will be our new administration team. We will also send invitation emails to other members to be part of these teams. The teams include:
  • Technology
  • Design
  • Engineering
  • Agriculture
We hope you have been watching the videos we post on the NZP. Keep your eye on these videos as we constantly add new ones. A special thanks to Shawn Hollahan for the Vertical Garden links. As you know, many of our videos are from the TED Conferences. We will be approaching TED to lend us support. As TED is a stage for some of the most intelligent and accomplished, we can only hope they see the value of bringing all these inventions and thoughts together in a real-world scenario.

YOUR DONATIONS
We would like to thank those who have donated. It is your kindness and generosity that allows the NZP to move forward. We hope to receive enough in donations to purchase the following:
  1. An NZP Pendant to be given to those who donate 100 Euros or more. This will be a simple round pendant with our logo to be worn around your neck or wrist. More than a fashion accessory, we hope it will be a great conversation starter.
  2. A store of non-GMO seeds. While it is still possible, we would like to get an ample store of heirloom, open pollinated seeds that have not been altered by Monsanto. For those aware of the atrocities being committed by the food multinationals, you know we do not have much time. The heirloom seeds we currently have access to include:

October Bean; Black Valentine Bean, Stringless; Bountiful Bean; Detroit Dark Red Beet; Copenhagen Market Cabbage; Stowell's Evergreen Corn; Reid's Yellow Dent Corn; Bushy Cucumber; Yellow Of Parma Onion; Bloomsdale Spinach; Scarlet Nantez Carrot; Red Salad Bowl Lettuce; Oakleaf Lettuce; Hale's Best Melon; Green Arrow Pea; Fordhook Giant Chard; Brandywine Tomato; California Wonder Pepper; Early Jalapeno Pepper; French Breakfast Radish; Waltham Butternut Squash; Rossa Bianca Eggplant.
FAQs
Q: Is the NZP part of the Venus Project?
A: No. Though inspired by the Venus Project and the incredible work of Jacque Fresco, the New Z-Land Project is a separate initiative. We share many of the same incentives, but the NZP is a much smaller, more modest attempt to create a city that showcases some of the newest technologies now available. We have tried to affiliate with the Venus Project, but with little success. They seem to have a different agenda, and we respect that. There has been talk of the Venus Project copyrighting the term "Resourced Based Economy (RBE)". Sadly, this seems contrary to their philosophy. It is essentially saying "These words in this order are mine". It begs the question: Isn't language also a resource to be shared? No one person invented the English language. It belongs to all of us.

With the very best and highest regards,
The New Z-Land Project
