2.3 New Technologies
The NZP will be a forum to showcase new and emerging
technologies. These technologies when introduced will change the very face of manufacturing
and day-to-day living.
Energy:
The energy production would take advantage of some of the non-polluting
sources such as geothermal, wind, solar, tidal and other renewable sources. There will
be continued research for new forms of clean energy including technologies like zero-point generators, hydrogen fuel cells and free energy vibration rods.
Transportation:
Monorails, Maglev (Magnetic
Levitation) trains and multi-vector conveyors will be able to take anyone within
the city. They are non-pollutant, silent, clean and energy efficient.
Environmental Sensors:
These
sensors will be used in a myriad of ways. For example, the sensors will help manage a balanced-load economy, which would monitor and maintain soil conditions,
the water table and nutrients. Sensors would also be used in the detection of weather changes, and would respond by enacting global, automated, city subroutines to prepare for things like wet weather, windy weather, or a storm of some kind.
Building Materials:
The materials used in construction
will be light weight, high strength and fire resistant. No Brominated Flame Retardants
(BFRs) will be used to accomplish fire resistancy.
Outer surfaces of buildings will
act as photovoltaic generators converting solar radiation directly into electricity
for heating, cooling and other needs.
Memory Metals will be used as much as possible.
These remarkable metals can be squeezed into cubes a fraction of their size and
upon the application of heat, spring back to their original shape and dimension.
This allows for efficient transportation of prefabricated building elements.
Aerogel is a revolutionary material that can be used in insulation technology. It is
the same meterial used in Space Shuttles and has the highest insulation value of
any material known. Aerogel is now available for use in building construction and
energy efficiency retrofits. Most heat transmission through walls is directly through
studs to the drywall, known as "thermal bridging". Aerogel Insulation breaks this
thermal bridging link. Self adhesive Aerogel Insulation strips can be applied in
seconds. This material is not affected by moisture or age, and provides major energy
savings for the life of the building.
Sound insulation will also be looked at most seriously to minimize unwanted sounds from
outside your dwelling. Those of you with noisy neighbors living in a city where
sirens are the norm will appreciate these efforts. Just like the sense of taste,
what you hear and smell should always remain a choice.
Food and Water:
All food
will be grown from non-GMO seeds. The use of greenhouse technology will be utilized
wherever possible. For non-vegetarians, a more civil, less cruel approach to the
use of livestock would be employed. The acres of slaughterhouses will be non-existent
demonstrating that we as humans do not view other life forms as merely a resource
to be consumed and exploited.
Water will be created through Atmospheric Water Generators
that produce purified drinking water from the humidity in the air. This all natural
water will not contain any chemicals such as the Fluorides found in today's tap
water.
Textiles:
The manufacturing of clothing material and textiles will be done through all natural
materials. Traditional materials such as cotton and wool will of course still be
used. Where old clothing will be recycled into other products, the employment of
Hemp as a textile crop will also be considered.
Hemp and its constituents (Hemp oil and Hemp seed) have many uses including a source
of food, medicinal use, a building material, a paper composite,
a water and even a source of soil purification element.
